Position: Japanese-English Translation/Localization Project Coordinator

Job Description:

The Japanese-English Translation/Localization Project Coordinator plans and executes translation & localization projects for both the print media such as Japanese manga & novels and the visual media for Japanese anime & films of varying scopes for multiple end clients. The primary focus of this position is ensuring customer satisfaction through successful management of projects’ quality and schedule.

Print media translation

  • Receives & ensures the files from clients
  • Plans & schedules localization projects; allocates resources; develops schedule and quality parameters
  • Works closely with the external vendors & tracks project progress to ensure that quality and deliveries stay on plan
  • Manages day-to-day relationship with client on project matters; provides regular status reports and proactively offers solutions to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Proofreads & ensures the final files quality and delivers to clients
  • Conducts any other necessary paper works in order to complete the projects

Visual media localization:

  • Following analysis of client specific localization requirements, creates and manages project plans, and develops project specific team with external vendors including the translators, directors, sound engineers, casting directors, and recording studios
  • Receives & ensures the files from clients
  • Plans & schedules localization projects; allocates resources; develops schedule and quality parameters
  • Works closely with the external vendors & tracks project progress to ensure that quality and deliveries stay on plan
  • Manages day-to-day relationship with client on project matters; provides regular status reports and proactively offers solutions to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Participates in recording sessions & editing on site, if necessary, to ensure the quality and project specific standard
  • Confirms the final files and delivers to clients

Duties included:

  • Presents regular reports to the internal supervisor
  • Communicates with the translation division leader and keeps updating the progress
  • Communicates with the visual media localization division leader (based in Japan) and keeps updating the progress
  • Any other necessary assignments instructed by the supervisors/executives

Qualification:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English & Japanese
  • Organizational and leadership skills
  • Quality and detail-oriented
  • Must be eligible to work in the US
  • Commutable to Torrance office during the business hours (Mon-Fri 10:00AM-6:00PM)

Notes:

  • Independent contractor for 3 months and possibly the full-time employee position considered afterward
