This sums up the sentiment behind this unique international collaboration between comic book legend STAN LEE (Spider-man, X-Men) and animation powerhouse BONES (Fullmetal Alchemist, Eureka Seven). Both have a hefty list of titles, characters and concepts with global recognition-- but together, they have created a brand new superhero the world has never seen.
The series combines Stan Lee's distinct comic book storytelling style with the animated creative influence of Studio BONES to make a show with both familiar and exotic elements for global audiences. From the scripts through storyboards and final animation both sides had significant discussion and exchange, making this series the result of true creative alliance.
The project began with a short meeting when the president of BONES, Mr. Masahiko Minami, came to visit Stan Lee at POW Entertainment in Beverly Hills. Executive Producer Masaki Kaifu and other producers from Wowmax Media arranged and attended each meeting, not only to take care of the differences in language and culture, of course, but also to handle the actual animation production process smoothly while creative forces usually reside separated by the Pacific.
Countless video conference calls and brainstorming sessions finally brought HEROMAN to life-- and with such a huge range of creativity and energy flowing, it was the work of the bi-lingual producers on the show to keep communication open so questions like "do they get what I mean?" would not slow anyone down.
The show currently airs on TV TOKYO Networks, Thursdays (6:00 pm) and the press release announcing the program's debut at MIPTV is posted below.

Joey Jones is an ordinary boy who accidentally controls the Earth’s only hope for survival against a militant invasion. When they meet, the boy lacks a sense of strength and the robot is without a sense of good and evil.
This is the story of a soft-spoken junior high schooler whose model robot grows into a massive weapon, while the boy himself grows into a hero who can save the world.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Stan Lee’s Newest Superhero Debuts at MIPTV
Los Angeles, California & Tokyo, Japan April 07, 2010 The animated series based on the new original property HEROMAN created by comic book legend STAN LEE (Spider-man, X-Men) and animation powerhouse BONES (Fullmetal Alchemist, Eureka Seven) will be screened at MIPTV and available for regions outside Japan.
Prior to this plan for an animated series, neither Stan Lee nor Studio Bones had ever worked in this type of overseas collaboration. Wowmax Media stepped up as the production company to facilitate this landmark Japanese-American collaboration which took four and a half years from treatment to premiere.
The storyline follows an ordinary boy who accidentally controls the Earth’s only hope for survival against a militant invasion and the toy robot that comes to life as his adopted little, yet colossal, brother.
“Joey is a boy everyone can relate to,” Stan Lee says of this new title, “and we’ve granted him the same wish I had as a young boy: a hero to look up to and grow with, and the power to protect everything he cares about.”
New footage and samples can be seen during MIPTV in Cannes, France, on April 12 through 16, 2010, at the DENTSU, INC. Booth (LR2.00), or TV TOKYO Corp. Booth (21.11).
